My Stay At Hôtel Monville
While I was in Ottawa visiting the Nigerian Embassy last October, I made an impulsive decision to spend the remaining duration of my trip in Montreal instead. During the 2+ hour drive into the city, I booked a last minute stay in Hôtel Monville.
I couldn’t have picked a better hotel to stay in, right in the heart of downtown Montreal. Located in Ville-Marie, Hôtel Monville is steps away from Square Victoria, Place De Armes, Notre Dame Basilica, Place Des Arts, The Underground City, Rue St. Catherine and many more. With the lovely weather, I barely had a need to fetch my rental from the concierge and ended up walking from location to location the entire trip.
Hotel Monville gives you a glimpse into the hospitality industry’s future with its modern integration of technological innovations. Upon arrival, the self check-in kiosks dispense customized key cards, granting access to your room without the need to see one of the front desk agents. The hotel lobby, which doubles as a cozy reading area and an informal workspace also has a dine-in or take-out restaurant offering an eclectic menu inspired by Montreal’s gastronomy. Up for a quick selfie? Head over to the Simple Photo Booth to snap a high resolution image of yourself in the hotel lobby. I did not take advantage of the room service offerings but when you do, you will be served by an autonomous delivery robot that brings your order directly to your room.
The hotel’s terrace located on the 20th floor allows guests to enjoy panoramic views of the city which sets a serene ambience during sunrise or sunset.
All of the guest rooms and suites in the hotel are complimented by large windows that provide panoramic views of the city, the mountain, or the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.
I stayed in a corner suite on the 5th floor which provided extensive views of downtown Montreal. The spacious room which had a mini sitting/lounging area, was also equipped with the comfiest king size bed, automatic blackout blinds and a 50″ HD television. The bathroom featured a private toilet, a standing rain shower and was stocked with 100% all natural personal care products from Oneka. My favorite feature in the room were the blackout blinds – I slept like a baby because of them.
Needless to say, I really enjoyed every minute of my stay at Hôtel Monville and cannot wait to be back!
The hotel room rates average at $170/night
